09 OUR LIMINAL SPACE
FOG WATER HARVESTING
The urgency of addressing droughts, particularly prevalent in regions like Catalonia, underscores the necessity for innovative solutions. "Our Liminal Space", intervenes in the water cycle to combat droughts and environmental degradation, leveraging atmospheric water capture systems and fog water harvesting. Recognized by the UN, fog water harvesting utilizes atmospheric microparticles to form droplets on porous surfaces, promising efficient capture of atmospheric water.
The core solution involves recapturing 75% of evaporated water through humidity captors, rebalancing hydrology and replenishing the land. This intervention encompasses water management, landscape preservation, resource reusing, and inclusive design. Repurposing irrigation structures into humidity captors complements rural landscapes, efficiently collecting water droplets.
Additionally, they serve as multifunctional community spaces, revitalizing rural areas. Ultimately, the project aims to rejuvenate the region's heritage, foster community engagement, and promote environmental resilience.
