Biomaterial Housing in Latin America and the Caribbean

Data-driven policy report focused on advancing social housing strategies in Latin America and the Caribbean, with an emphasis on optimising industrialised production processes for four essential organic building materials: wood, bamboo, earth, and recycled or complementary materials (fibrous or non-structural components).

The project delves into current models of collective housing in Latin America and the Caribbean utilising organic materials such as wood, bamboo, earth, and recycled materials.

It explores various value chains, maps locations where these materials are prevalent through data analysis, and identifies suitable applications. Strategies for responsible material extraction are proposed alongside maps predicting future material availability based on historical climate data and existing terrain types in Latin America.
